Andover Trask has been not only a great product to carry in the shop, but working with the team of AT has been an absolute dream. We are honored to carry their amazing goods and would like to introduce Andover Trask to Birmingham!
In 2013, inspired in part by his craftsman grandfather, founder Matt Weaver began designing and hand making the practical, durable, but beautifully refined bags he couldn’t find anywhere else. A photograph of his grandfather at work as a cobbler in Cedartown, Georgia hung in the Andover Trask studio in Atlanta—where Matt would hand cut, sew, rivet and stamp Andover Trask bags and aprons himself.
From Matt : "We find beauty in simplicity and utility, and inspiration in history. Like storied Southern architecture, our products’ elegant proportions and honest natural materials reflect their enduring integrity and timeless appeal. They bend perfectly to their work and grow more beautiful and meaningful with age."
Then in 2015 Laura Stewart heard Matt was interested in selling the company, and she had to know more. Since the purchase of her first bag, the Sawyer, she had been hooked. When she met Matt, she said it felt like seeing an old friend. She instantly knew that fate had brought her to this point, and that this was just the beginning of something wonderful.
Andover Trask has released a few new designs, like the Belle and Andover Trask Mini, but Matt's original designs will remain available. Laura has also launched another lifestyle brand called Porch and Hound. The line is a reflection of Laura's childhoods spent on the porches of her southern home. Laura still sips coffee or refreshments on the porch, listening to the birds and watching the world go by. A porch to her is a gathering place, somewhere to lose track of time and enjoy family, friends and pets. Porch and Hound is collection designed with these beliefs in mind. The collection features beautiful leather dog collars and leashes, and pretty leather coasters.
